Tobacco cultivation and market selling have been the main pillars for the economic growth of Komotini, and Rhodope in general, for many decades. As a result, the city had many tobacco warehouses, most of which were lost over time. One of the few that have remained is that of Parnassos Street where the services of TGC are housed. The building was declared as a historical monument, because it is one of the few examples of tobacco warehouses left in Komotini that prove the development, due to the tobacco processing and market selling through the years.
