The Eski Mosque of Komotini (Eski Camii), known as the Old Temenos, is an Ottoman monument which according to Evliya Tselebi dates from 1608/9 or 1677/78 based on an inscription. It is located in the center of Komotini near Imaret.
It is rumored that it is the first mosque in Komotini that was founded as a mesjit by Gazi Ahmet Evrenos and was part of the wider complex of buildings that he owned. According to one version, this mosque was built on the spot where a Byzantine church used to be, while in 1910, during the Bulgarian Occupation, it was used as a church. In 1920 the mosque was returned to the minority while in recent years there has been a major renovation on the outside.
